About Us

Our mission is to professionally and competently prosecute crimes and investigate criminal activity on behalf of the people of Bourbon County, Kansas and to seek equal justice for all in the criminal justice system.  

What we do

The County Attorney’s Office prosecutes misdemeanor and felony cases, juvenile offender cases, child in need of care cases, care & treatment cases and asset forfeiture cases in Bourbon County District Court.

What we provide

We provide assistance to victims and witnesses of crime.  The County Attorney’s Office is also responsible for investigating violations of the Kansas Open Meetings and Open Records Acts.

Our Mission

Our mission includes the prevention and deterrence of crimes, support of the well-being of victims, participation in the community, transparency, accountability, and improvement of the criminal justice system to provide fair alternatives to incarceration in appropriate cases.

Tiana McElroy

County Attorney

Tiana McElroy became Bourbon County Attorney in June
2021.  Ms. McElroy graduated from the Washburn University with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in history in 2001. 
Ms. McElroy earned her juris doctor (J.D.) degree from Washburn University School of Law. In 2004.

Brandon Cameron

Assistant County Attorney

Brandon Cameron became Assistant Bourbon County Attorney in March 2021. Before he became assistant county attorney, he worked in private practice, where he primarily handled criminal defense and child neglect cases. Mr. Cameron graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in history. Mr. Cameron earned his Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in history from Pittsburg State University in 2021.
Mr. Cameron earned his juris doctor (J.D.) degree from Washburn University School of Law.
When Mr. Cameron is not zealously advocating for justice, he enjoys reading the classics. He adores his wife, children, dogs, and his tuxedo cat. He is proud to fight for justice on behalf of the citizens of Bourbon County.

Justin Meeks

Assistant County Attorney

Justin Meeks became Assistant Bourbon County Attorney in September 2021. Mr. Meeks graduated with a A.S. degree from Fort Scott Community College in 1994. Mr. Meeks earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Social Science and Education from Lindenwood College then his Master in Business Administration from Lindenwood University in 1998. Mr. Meeks earned his juris doctor (J.D.) degree from Washburn University School of Law in 2001.
